Give’em Gift Cards… Cheaply

By on September 10, 2010

One way to say thank you to a volunteer that has gone the extra mile is to give him or her a gift card.  It’s just a fun way to recognize a great attitude or some great service.  Now, thanks to Card Pool, you can get those gift cards at a discount.

The idea behind Card Pool is that when people receive a gift card they don’t really want they can sell it on the site.  It’s a win-win sort of thing.  The seller gets some value out of a card they don’t think they’ll ever use and the buyer gets the card at a discount.  Car Pool makes sure the cards are valid and have credit on them

The variety of gift cards available is staggering.  They have everything from Barnes and Noble to BestBuy and even American Airlines.  Of course, supplies fluctuate so you just have to see what’s in stock when you’re ready to purchase.

All cards come at a discount of some sort.  Some cards have a low discount but others reach as high as 30% off the face value.

Once you purchase a card, the shipping is free and it comes with a “100 Day Purchase Guarantee” which insures that the card will be good for the full value for which you purchased it.

There’s also a wishlist on the site if you’re looking for a specific gift card that isn’t available at the moment.

The site also allows people to sell their gift cards, of course, which means, ironically, that some of your volunteers might actually turn around and sell the gift cards you give them there but such is the grand circle of life.

You can check out Card Pool here.
