[TREND] Is Your Mom on Facebook?

0 Comments 09 September 2010

The folks over at Flowtron released an amazing info graphic earlier this month.  The graphic tells us that older folks are using social media like Facebook and Twitter a lot more.  In fact, their adoption rate has recently soared.

Here’s a close up of one of the graphs.  As you can see, Twitter alone has seen a huge rise in participation from people over 50.

There’s also a break down of the different social sites and the average age of users on that site.  For instance, the average age of a Facebook user is 38 and 61% of the facebookers are 35 and older.

Every pastor should head over to the Flowtron site and check the full graphic out.  The info it contains is very interesting and should help form social media strategies for any church.

I've been a senior pastor for over twenty years and a techie for longer than that. My first computer was a TRS-80. How's that for tech cred? You can follow me on twitter at @tonymccollum.
