A Four Minute Sabbatical

By on October 25, 2010

Highly successful designer, Stefan Sagmeister, likes sabbaticals.  In fact, every seven years he closes down his entire business and takes a year off to travel the world.  At his amazing 2009 TED talk, he suggested that every creative type should do the same.  He believes that his best ideas come when he’s not under pressure and that he gets enough ideas in the one year off to fuel the other seven.  (He likes to think about it as taking some of his retirement years and dropping them into his working years.)

While I’m sure we all understand and value the idea of having a sabbatical, most pastors can’t afford to take a solid year off.  We can, however, enjoy a condensed version of the sabbatical that the production company, ThinkLab, decided to take after hearing Sagmeister’s suggestion.

So, for your enjoyment and Monday morning inspiration, here’s a sabbatical covering South America, Europe and New Zealand, in four minutes.  (Turn the speakers up and watch it in full screen.)

BTW, it takes about a full minute for this thing to really get going. Relax. It’s a sabbatical after all.

This really makes me want to hit the road. How about you?
