Timing is Everything

0 Comments 14 March 2011

According to this Wired article, a whopping 71 percent of tweets are simply ignored.  Nobody ever responds to them or retweets them.  (Let’s hope all tweets from or about Charlie Sheen fall into this category.)  The article also states that if your tweets are going to get any sort of response it’s going to most likely happen within an hour of you posting it.  If you tweet a lot and want your message to have any impact this means that choosing the timing of your tweets is critical but what’s the best time for you to tweet?

Timely is a new service that was designed to help answer that question and, in turn, help you to expand the range and impact of your tweets.  It does this by analyzing your tweets and determining the times of day that typically get the best responses for your tweets.

No only does Timely help you discover your best tweet times, it will also automatically send your tweets at those times.  Just load up Timely with your marvelous and witty tweets and it will do the rest.  This, of course, is far superior to having to manually set delayed tweet times in your twitter client of choice.

The service is a snap to use and it allows you to add as many twitter accounts to your Timely account as you like so it’s extremely useful even for twitter pros.

Personally, I’d love to see people using this service if for no other reason than to reduce the number of folks that retweet the same link over and over during the day in hopes of driving traffic to their sites.  Perhaps Timely could help them be more effective and reduce twitter static at the same time.

Even if you don’t want to start using Timely to post your tweets, it’s worth jumping over to their site just to find your best tweeting times.  It’s quick and easy.
