Flipboard Comes to the iPhone

By on January 17, 2012

I’ve reviewed Flipboard here before but it’s been a while and lot has changed since that initial review.

For those of you that don’t know, Flipboard is an app that pulls together everything your friends are talking about on Twitter and Facebook (and elsewhere) and brings that content into a beautiful magazine-like experience.

Explosive Momentum

There are quite a few apps out there now that do something similar to this but Flipboard seems to be gaining momentum.  They recently topped 4.5 million downloads.  The app is also installed on one out of ten iPads.  That’s pretty amazing.

New Innovative Features

There’s a big reason behind Flipboard’s success and that’s innovation.  These guys have been relentlessly adding features to this outstanding app.  You can now add information from other sources like your Google Reader feed and image sharing sites like Instagram.

Beyond that, you can also create channels from your Twitter lists.  This is extremely important as Twitter friend counts mushroom and more and more people are using lists to segment what they read.

Now on the iPhone

The big news from the folks over at Flipboard is that they’ve now released this great product for the iPhone.

At first, I was skeptical about what this app would look like on a smaller screen but it’s a delight, just like it’s big brother on the iPad, and it’s clear that the developers designed this version from the ground up with the small screen real estate in mind.

Check out this video to see the iPhone version in action.

Whatever version you decide to us, Flipboard is truly worth a look or a second look if you haven’t checked it out in a while.

You can visit their site for all the details here.
