The End of the Non-Retina MacBook Pro?

The good folks over at Digitimes are reporting that Apple may be discontinuing the non-retina version of the 13″ MacBook Pro in the second half of 2014.

This makes sense of course when you realize how Apple has been continually discounting the price of the retina versions since their release. Now, the price difference between the two is as little at $100 (for the cheapest retina model).

The retina version of the 13″ MacBook Pro is becoming the “go to” model for many people.

It seems to be eating market share not just among MacBook Pros but also, interestingly, MacBook Airs. (See this post from Michael Hyatt for one notable example among many.)

If the report is true and you owe a standard 13″ MacBook Pro, it might be time to sell it before any announcement is made.

If you want to buy a new standard 13″ MacBook Pro, you might want to place your order now.

If you’re in the market for a used unit, you might want to wait for the prices to drop.
