Your Morning Twitter Paper is Here

By on March 15, 2010

So, you follow something like a kazillion people on twitter and you’re having a hard time keeping up with what’s really important amidst the flood of tweets that come your way.  Don’t worry, Twitter Times is here to help.  Twitter Times (twittertim.es) is an online “newspaper” that is custom built just for you based upon the tweets of the people you follow (and the folks that they follow too).  All those tweets and links and retweets are compiled together and then ranked based upon freshness and popularity and then it’s formatted like a newspaper for you to peruse.

Within the newspaper itself, you’ll find who posted the info or retweeted it and you can also retweet it at well.  You can even see stuff listed by people that are followed by the people you follow so you can follow them too.  Follow?  (What this means is that you can discover cool new people to follow on twitter.)

The newspaper is formatted very well.  Every article is truncated so you can scan things quickly and there’s a link to expand any article that interests you.  Think of it as Google Reader for your tweets.

The newspaper refreshes and rebuilds once an hour so it’s always pretty current.  Because of that, when you first sign up for the service, it’ll take about an hour for you to see your first issue.  From then on, it’ll rebuild automatically.

Not only can you tweet individual articles, you can also tweet and share your entire newspaper if you like.  Now, you’re media mogul.  Who knew?  Also, you can see if any of the people you follow on twitter have made their newspapers available for others to read.

Beyond all that, The Twitter Times also publishes editions made up of twitter lists that are maintained by twitter heavy hitters so you can view what “experts” are saying about things like the economy, web trends, and photography.

They say that newspapers are dying and that’s certainly true in the print world but personalized services like the Twitter Times are here to stay.

Why not start your subscription (it’s actually free) today but signing up and getting your first issue rolling.  Then, make some coffee, enjoy some time in the Word and come back to read your own custom edition of the Twitter Times.

The Twitter Times is available at http://twittertim.es.  You can view the expert lists editions here.
