Get Classy Daily Briefings from Winston
A new app was released yesterday that does a great job of giving you a quick daily briefing.
The app is called Winston and it’s as classy as a British gentlemen’s butler.
The app connects to your Twitter and Facebook accounts as well news sites that you may select from a long list of options. It’s also location aware.
With all this info in hand, Winston proceeds to give you a daily briefing including…
- The temp and forecast for the day.
- News about topics you select ranging from world news, politics, tech, or even fashion.
- Tweets from your friends.
- Status updates from Facebook friends and pages you like.
Winston doesn’t just read these things to you sort of summarizes the posts and updates.
For instance, if someone posts a picture, Winston will tell you that. He, I can’t help but call him a he, will also tell you if the post was popular by saying something like, “This was a popular picture with many comments.”
At any point, you can’t pause Winston and go directly to whatever he’s mentioning at that moment.
The app uses a wonderful British voice with a matching music bed that adds to the entire experience and just makes everything seem very classy and a tad sophisticated.
He even wishes you a good day at the end of the briefing.
As this video illustrates, this is a perfect app to run while getting ready or on your morning commute to get you up to speed.
The app has a lot of polish and works well. I do wish it would let me select a Twitter list to read instead of my full Twitter feed which is a bit too random. I imagine these sort of refinements will be coming in future updates.
The app is free and available here via iTunes.
